Hello. I am Human Bear, a behavior modification and trainer. As a continuation of the previous post, this is a plan for guardians who have begun to see patterns in the Toilet Mistake Map, organizing a routine that significantly reduces the probability of mistakes over a 7-day period on a “daily basis.” If you read this article first, It will be helpful to read the previous article first.
- Daily mission to increase “success rate” over 7 days
- Wake up/after eating/before/before going out/rug/front door, etc. How to modify each trigger
- Recovery rules that do not break down even if you make a mistake
Summary
① The key to 7-day correction is not to “get scolded,” but to increase success through movement, timing, and pad settings.
② For the first 3 days, go to Increase Success Rate, and for 4 to 7 days, go to Increase Accuracy.
③ In case of sudden changes (polyuria/pain/hematuria, etc.), health check may take priority over training.
1) Check 30 seconds before starting: If there is a sudden change, ‘health’ takes precedence over ‘training’
- I urinate frequently, but very little
- Pain reaction (whining/flinching)
- Hematuria, excessive licking, sudden increase in mistakes
If you see the above items, training alone may not solve the problem. To be safe, we recommend consulting at a hospital first.
2) Day 0 Setting: “Physically” increasing the success rate

Setting 1) Restriction of movement route (does not eliminate accidental areas, but blocks access)
- Close doors/block off fences/furniture in areas where mistakes are frequently made (rug/entrance/next to bed) for 7 days
- Leave only manageable living areas in the guardian’s view
Setting 2) Pad expansion (accuracy comes last, success rate comes first)
- During times when mistakes are made, increase the “area” to 2 to 4 pads.
- Start with success by attaching a temporary pad near the point of mistake
Setting 3) For cleaning, the goal is “0 odor” (if any reverberation remains, the map will be taken again)
- After treatment with enzyme cleaner, access is restricted until completely dry.
- Covering with incense can cause relapse.
Setting 4) Compensation preparation (1 second rule)
- “Fixed placement” of snack cups and pouches near the pad
- Success on pad = Immediately (within 1 second) “Good!” + 3-5 snacks in a row (early)
3) 7-day correction plan (days 1 to 7)
[Day 1] Focus only on “increasing success” rather than “reducing mistakes”
- Daily goal: Make pad success at least 3 times
- After waking up/after eating/playing = unconditionally connected to the pad zone
- If successful, 3 to 5 snacks in a row (short and loud)
[Day 2] Fixed only real time zone to “management mode”
- Specify only two “danger times” indicated by the real number map
- Restrict movement during that time + expand pad + strengthen guardian observation
[Day 3] Capturing of ‘previous signal’ begins
- Twirl/Sniff/Wait at the door/Whine = Guide quietly to the pad
- The moment you step on the pad, “Good” → Immediate reward
[Day 4] Slightly increasing pad “accuracy”
- Once the success rate stabilizes, reduce the pad area a little (do not reduce it all at once)
- Mistake risk time zone remains expanded
[Day 5] Correcting mistakes at the entrance/doorstep (walk signal) routine
- Before preparing for a walk: Wait 1-2 minutes in the pad zone (sit/sit) → Induce success
- Block the movement in front of the door, and prepare for the walk “quietly” (reduce talking that may cause excitement)
[Day 6] Rug/Mat Surface Mistake (Preferred Surface)
- Remove or block access to rugs/mats for 7 days
- Once pad success is stable, place the rug again for only a short period of time (under supervision)
[Day 7] Switch to “Maintenance Plan” (prevent recurrence)
- The goal is not to make 0 mistakes, but to create a structure where mistakes can be immediately recovered
- Two risk periods will remain in place for two more weeks (restrictions on movement routes/expansion of pads)
- Change the reward to ‘sometimes jackpot (big reward)’. If the snack reward is repeated too consistently, there may be side effects.
It is much faster if you set up a bowel mistake map before starting the plan.
▶ Take a look at the toilet mistake map (recording method) first
4) Daily routine table

Immediately after waking up (the section with the most explosions)
- As soon as you wake up, block access to outside the living area (rug/entrance)
- Quietly move to pad zone
- If successful, “Great!” + 3-5 snacks in a row
10-30 minutes after meal
- Enter the pad zone 10 minutes after eating (maintain movement restrictions)
- Accept sniffing/circling signal → guide to pad
After playing (case of explosion after excitement builds)
- Quiet mode (seat, mat) for 1-2 minutes after the end of play
- Then connect the pad zone
Before and after going out (anxiety, excitement case)
- Before going out: Wait 1-2 minutes in the pad zone → Induce success
- Immediately after returning: Connect to the pad zone before the happy explosion (short and quiet)
7-day record sheet (for plan)
| Date | Success(pad) | Mistakes (count) | Real Time Zone | Mistake location | Settings modified today | Tomorrow’s Mission |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Example) 3/1 | 3 times | 1 time | 07:20 | Rugs | Lug blocking + pad extension | Strengthening management immediately after weather event |
5) Recovery rules when mistakes are made (following these will prevent collapse)

- Don’t get scolded the moment you make a mistake (a pattern of hiding it may develop)
- Clean up quietly + Enzyme cleaner + Block access until dry
- Incorrect time zone/location will be in next 24 hours Management mode (travel restrictions + pad expansion)
- Next success must reset to “big reward”
6) FAQ
Q1. Even after 7 days, there are mistakes
It’s normal. The goal is not “0 mistakes,” but a structure that speeds recovery after mistakes. In particular, keep the two risk windows in place for two more weeks. If it doesn’t work out, it will last until it works!! Focus on success.
Q2. When is the timing to reduce the pad?
Once the success rate stabilizes for 2-3 consecutive days, reduce it “just a little.” If you reduce it drastically at once, you can go back.
Q3. Is marking only at the entrance unconditionally marking?
No. It could be excitement for a walk signal. Small quantity/multiple places/mounted on the wall If the pattern is strong, the possibility of marking is high.
Q4. How do I catch mistakes at night/early morning?
The last bowel movement may be too early or water intake late may have an effect. First, fix the last routine (pad routine before going to sleep).
Q5. It was more difficult when anxiety and excitement were mixed
That’s right. In this case, it is quicker to add a “mat routine” and a “guardian calming routine” instead of just going to the toilet.

| Example) 2/28 | 3 times | 1 time | 7 :20 | Foot Mat | Remove the ball mat + replace the pad | Pad guidance immediately after waking up |
